Idea: Shorten NBA regular season to 60 games
Suggested by: IS Team
82 games every season is too many (plus the playoffs and, for the elite players, the Olympics). Younger players wear out, older players wear down, and everyone gets hurt.
Furthermore, jamming that many games into the season ends up with fans watching games where players are clearly worn out from the rigors of the season.
Let’s keep the normal November-April regular season, but play only 60 games in it. Players will have more time to rest, be less likely to get injured, and provide fans with a higher quality of play throughout – which is what they are paying for and expect to see.
Idea: Start playoffs with cross-conference play
Suggested by: IS Team
First, teams within divisions and conferences have already spent the majority of the season playing against each other. Fans are seeing the same match-ups, over and over again.
Second, if the best teams are in the same conference, the “finals” will happen early in the tournament. Instead, seed the teams like March Madness and get some cross-conference excitement.
